Chelsea make late £20m striker bid
Chelsea are hopeful of signing Andre Schurrle on transfer deadline day and have made a £20 million bid for the player according to The Guardian.
The Blues have had a summer of new signings, with a raft of new faces joining the Stamford Bridge club but they have not replaced outgoing forward Didier Drogba.
Schurrle has impressed for Bayer Leverkusen and was part of Germany’s Euro 2012 squad; the Blues have had at least one bid rejected earlier this summer, thought to be in the region of £16 million.
Chelsea have made a new offer for Schurrle, which will be considered by the BayArena side on Friday.
Should Schurrle’s signature be captured on Friday, Roberto Di Matteo is prepared to let Daniel Sturridge leave west London on a loan deal.
Liverpool are eager to sign the England under-21 forward after loaning Andy Carroll to West Ham for the season.
The Blues face Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup in Monaco on Friday.
